BCCI has already announced the IPL 2022 schedule and every team has already announced their skipper who will be going to lead this season of the league. But the Bangalore-based franchise, RCB is yet to announce their captain.

Virat Kohli who had lead RCB for nine seasons starting from 2013-2021, had surprising decided to stepped-down from the captaincy. Next to the end of last UAE season of IPL 2021, King Kohli had surprised all after this announced. Earlier RCB management had already retained him along with Mohammad Siraj and the Australian all-rounder Glen Maxwell on November 30, 2021, for IPL 2022.

Former RCB skipper as well as New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori thinks that the right-hand batter will not be going to lead the team again. He also added that Virat shall not do that as once a captain decides to step down then he should be given the freedom to move on.

“No [Virat Kohli will not be the RCB captain again]. I think it is as simple as that. I don’t think that ever works, let alone in franchise cricket or international cricket. Once the captain is moved on, the right thing is for him to move on”, said Vettori as quoted by ESPNcricinfo.

“I think they will look at Kohli, Maxwell, and Du Plessis as the leadership group and even Dinesh Karthik. I think Faf will step in for Maxwell. But if they win the first three games, maybe they will continue on with him”, he said.

However, its confirmed that Maxwell will join the team after three matches of RCB. Faf is seems to be the most perfect in this role for the RCB management as he will be available throughout the season and also carries a great International captaincy records for one of the top teams, South Africa.

Royal Challenger Bangalore will kick-start their journey for IPL 2022 campaign against Punjab Kings at DY Patil Stadium on 27th March.

However, all of these opinions will have a full-stop only after RCB makes the announcement.
