Sunil Narine will join the Surrey club after the India Premier League with Kolkata Knight Riders and then will make himself available for the rest of the season for the Vitality Blast. This will be his first appearance in the Vitality Blast. Surrey begin their kickstart in the league at home to Glamorgan on May 27, with Narine expected to be available throughout the tournament after his arrival from India.
The mystery man from Trinidad takes up the first of two overseas slots in Surrey’s Vitality Blast squad.
This will add more power for the squad as not only he is capable of destroying any team with his mystery deliveries with the ball but also he is flexible in batting at any order for the team. In the recent days Narine has added more power to his batting skills.
This 33 year old man has played 51 T20’s for West Indies, took 52 wickets and has taken 429 wickets in total 391 T20 matches across his career till now.
This Trinidadian man has played a key role in the 2012 T20 ICC World cup, where WI lifted the trophy in Sri Lanka. He has taken nine wickets for WI. He has also represented the WI in 2014 T20 WC and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
Going through the franchise leagues, Narine has won the IPL title twice with KKR and named player of the tournament in 2012. He has also won three times the Caribbean Premier League and twice the Bangladesh Premier League.
On signing for the club, Narine stated: “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to play for Surrey in the Vitality Blast this year; one of the few competitions around the world I’ve not experienced in my career,” said Narine after the signing. “The stint I enjoyed with Oval Invincibles in 2021 gave me a taste of how unique playing in front of a packed Kia Oval crowd really is. My aim is to entertain as much as possible this year and hopefully ensure the Club challenges for the trophy.”
