Australian Dynamite David Warner Ruled out of the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the remaining 2 Tests against Team India.

Kangaroos suffered an another setback in chances of making an almost impossible comeback in Border Gavaskar Trophy. As their top order opening batsman David Warner is ruled out of the remaining 2 test matches of the Border Gavaskar trophy due to elbow injury. Warner was hit by Mohammad Siraj in the first inning of the second test match in Delhi which results in hairline fracture in his left elbow.

The Australia opener will return to home and miss the last two Test matches of the Border Gavaskar Trophy after an elbow fracture and concussion, Cricket Australia said on Tuesday.

“David Warner has been ruled out of the Border Gavaskar Trophy and will return home. Warner was struck on the elbow in the second Test in Delhi and sustained a hairline fracture. He will require a period of rehabilitation which will preclude any further involvement in the remainder of the Test series. It is currently anticipated that he will return to India for the three One-Day Internationals which follow the Test Series,”. Cricket Australia said in a statement.

This is expected that he will return to India for the three One-Day Internationals against Team India which follow the Test Series. The 36-year-old opener batsman had struggled for runs across the first two Tests. As Australia has lost heavily that results to trail 0-2 in the series. Warner was able to score only 26 runs from his three innings in 2 test matched against India.

Travis Head is expected to open for Australia in place of Warner in third Test

Travis Head, who batted in Australia’s second innings in place of Warner in New Delhi. He is expected to open the inning along with Usman Khawaja in the third Test in Indore beginning on March 1.

There was also debate over whether Travis Head could be the long-term solution for the opening slot. However, he was deemed fit to open the innings in the subcontinent. The Aussies will hope that Head can build on his performance from the second Test and keep performing.

All-rounder Cameron Green who is training at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi is also expected to make the playing eleven in the third Test. Mitchell Swepson is also poised to return to the team. Skipper Cummins left home immediately after the Delhi Test for family reasons. He is expected to return later this week and play in Indore.

India will play Australia in Indore for the third Test of the series. It starts on March 1 while the fourth Test will be played in Ahmedabad from March 9.
