Virat Kohli ended up with 73rd international century guides India to 67-run victory in first ODI against Sri Lanka at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka opted to bowl first after winning the coin toss and said the dew is the reason behind his call. Captain Rohit Sharma (83) and Shubman Gill (70) laid for a big score and later Player of the Match Virat Kohli (113) took advantage of the two dropped catches and owned the stage with his quality shots all around the ground & struck a brilliant century. All their efforts at home condition help India to post a massive 373/7 in 50 overs.
In reply of 373 Sri Lankan team manage to score 306/8. They lost a couple of wickets early and that dented them badly. Dhananjaya de Silva (47) and Pathum Nissanka (72) tried their best but their efforts never scaled giant proportions as per the demands of the chase. Skipper Dasun Shanaka (108*) came in a little too late, got a magnificent 2nd International century and stay on crease with Kasun Rajitha (9*) and made 100 runs unbreakable partnership. But that only reduced the margin of defeat.
India have gone 1-0 up. They were superb with the bat and that meant they got to a huge total of 373. Sri Lanka tried hard but their efforts paled in comparison to India’s. They would want to bounce back better.
