#1 He doesn’t have a test century since 2019
Last Century Virat scored in test match on 22 of November 2019, which came against Bangladesh. The former Indian skipper has smashed 27 hundreds in this format.
#2 He has only 6 fifties since his last ton in test cricket
Several time Kohli manages to get 50 plus score in ODI cricket frequently in ODI cricket, even if he didn’t score centuries. But in Tests, the 34-year-old has crossed the 50-run mark only 6 times since the start of 2020.
#3 Struggle to score runs against spinners
For King Kohli, the day he would heat spinners all around the park is distant memory. He has also been an excellent defensive player of spin. His Test average of 57.51 in Asia reflects the same. But over the last few years, Kohli’s spin game has deteriorated significantly. Not just in the shorter formats, where he has been unable to find boundaries at will, but in Test cricket as well. In 2022, Kohli’s average against spin is a 17.25 .
Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik recently pointed out how star batter Virat Kohli has struggled for form in Test cricket. He explained “He obviously had a tough time in T20Is and the IPL. But he showed his class at the World Cup. We understand that it has been a tough year for him. He has a great series against Australia to showcase his class and stamp his class.”
The 37 year old Karthik mentioned that Kohli has a significant chance of getting back in form in red-ball cricket by delivering an impressive performance in the crucial four-match home Test series against Australia, which will beings from 9th of February.
We too hope that our King will be back in form in upcoming series. #KingKohli
