The mini auction for the next edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is to be held in Kochi today. For this, the franchisees along with the fans are fully prepared.


All the 10 teams have already submitted their list of retained players.Several key players will be auctioned today and it will be interesting to see how the final squad turns out.Let us inform you everything related to this auction.


When, where and how will the auction happen?


The auction will be held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kochi, Kerala. The live coverage of the event will begin at 2:30 pm.


Star Sports Network has the rights to telecast the event. So live coverage can be seen on it. Similarly, the entire event will also be live streamed on Viacom 18 and Jio Cinema.


The fate of many big players is expected to be decided in this auction.


How many players will be auctioned?


A total of 991 players (714 Indian and 277 overseas) had registered for the auction but finally 405 players (273 Indian and 132 overseas) have been shortlisted.


Teams have a maximum of 87 slots available, of which 30 are earmarked for overseas players.
All 10 franchises can spend Rs 174.3 crore in the auction.
Each team has got 5 crores more for the auction. With this the total amount of the purse became 95 crores.


Which team has how much money left?


Lucknow Supergiants: Rs 23.35 crore.
Mumbai Indians: Rs 20.55 crore.
Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rs 8.75 crore.
Chennai Super Kings: Rs 20.45 crore.
Delhi Capitals: Rs 19.45 crore.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: Rs 42.25 crore.
Punjab Kings: 32.20 cr.
Kolkata Knight Riders: Rs 7.05 crore.
Gujarat Titans: Rs 19.25 crore.
Rajasthan Royals: Rs 13.20 crore.


Big bids can be made on these players


As per the auction list, there are 19 players who have been placed in the Rs 2 crore bracket.
This includes Ben Stokes, Sam Curran and Cameron Green.


At the same time, 11 players have been kept in the bracket of Rs 1.5 crore.

These include Harry Brook, Adam Zampa and Jason Roy.


There are 20 players in the one crore bracket. Which includes Joe Root, Mayank Agarwal and Manish Pandey. Teams can bid big on all these.
There are 19 players in the Rs 2 crore bracket
Out of the total 405 players included in the auction, 19 have kept their base price of Rs 2 crore.
These include Tom Banton, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Tymal Mills, Jamie Overton, Craig Overton, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Cameron Green, Travis Head, Chris Lynn, Kane Williamson, Adam Milne, Jimmy Neesham, Riley Rossouw, Rassie Van der Dussen, Jason Holder, Nicholas Pooran.


Most of these players are expected to be auctioned.

Players with 1.5 crore base price


11 players have kept their base price of Rs 1.5 crore in the auction. These include Sean Abbott, Riley Meredith, Jhye Richardson, Adam Zampa, Shakib Al Hasan, Harry Brook, Will Jacks, David Malan, Jason Roy, Sherfane Rutherford and Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Players with 1 crore base price


These players are included in the base price of one crore rupees.Mayank Agarwal, Manish Pandey, Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Moises Henriques, Andrew Tye, Joe Root, Luke Wood, Michael Bracewell, Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Heinrich Klaasen, Tabraiz Shamsi, Kusal Perera, Roston Chase, Rahkeem Cornwall, Shai Hope, David Wiese have been kept in the Rs 1 crore bucket.

Players with 75 lac base price


Similarly, Reece Topley, Wayne Parnell, Daniel Symes, Joshua Philippe, Ish Sodhi, Tom Karan, D’Arcy Short, David Payne, Carlos Brathwaite have set their base price at Rs 75 lakh.


What is the rule of impact player?


Impact player rule will be introduced in IPL 2023.
The rule would allow teams to take off a player in the middle of a match.
At the time of naming the playing XI before the match, the players who will be part of the team as impact players will also have to be named. These will be four players.
Now one of these four players can be fielded as a substitute before the end of the 14th over.


Who will auction the players?


Hugh Edmonds will be the auctioneer for the event. He took over from Richard Madley in 2018.
During the mega auction of IPL 2022, Adams collapsed midway through the first day of the event and had to be hospitalised.
Later Charu Sharma got the auction process completed in his place.
However, the admirals were back on the second day for the players’ final slot auction.

Note


Afghanistan off-spinner Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar (15) is the youngest player in the auction list. Similarly, Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra (40) is the oldest player.
