Wait is over! BCCI has announced the full schedule of TATA IPL 2022

BCCI has finally announced the schedule for the 15th Edition of Indian Premier League – TATA IPL 2022. All the 10 teams of the tournament will fight each other for the ultimate glory over a span of two months from 26th March and the final will be played on 29th May.

The opening match will be played between Chennai Super Kings #CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders #KKR on 26th March at 19:30 IST at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

In this edition of IPL, BCCI has introduced a new format for the tournament. All the 10 teams have been divided into two groups, Group A & Group B based on the number of IPL titles they have won and the finals played.

As per the schedule published by the BCCI, Group A comprises of Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals and new entrants Lucknow Super Giants. The other five teams, Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and new entrants Gujarat Titans, are part of Group B.

All the league matches will be played in Maharashtra.

All the league matches of IPL 2022 will be played at four venues, three in Mumbai and one in Pune. 

DY Patil Stadium and Wankhede Stadium will host 20 matches each while the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai and MCA Stadium in Pune will hosts to 15 matches each.

As confirmed by the schedule, the first double header of the tournament will be on 27th March. We will witness the huge number of double header days this season as the number of matches increased with the addition of two new teams Gujarat and Lucknow.

However, the Maharashtra Administration has taken decision to allow 25% crowd in the stadium during the IPL league matches. The schedule and venues for the playoffs for this season is yet to be published.
